Happy Birthday!

It is so hard to believe that our little ladybug is one year old tomorrow! This week has been incredibly hard for me. I've found myself constantly looking back at the year and I continue to be amazed at how much she's grown and how quickly it has gone by. As I sit here writing this I'm fighting back tears! All day I've been re-living the "labor day" - from first contractions, to driving to the hospital, and by now (8:30 PM) I was busy laboring away and most likely considering the epidural that I was absolutely sure I could do without! We'll be fast asleep tonight (I hope!) at the exact minute she was lifted into this world and we met for the first time. Although those first few days left us unsure as to what the future would hold, at the end of this first year we are thrilled with what an incredibly smart, funny, adorable little person we have on our hands. Happy Birthday Caroline! We love you so much!

What a weekend!

We drove up to New Hampshire this weekend for Erik's cousin Shaun's wedding. We had four busy days filled with so many fun things. We had so much fun spending time with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Kelly and the whole Hackett Clan! Caroline was very entertained by Cousin Josh - he's 3 and was so good with her. I think they enjoyed each others company :) It was also a weekend full of "firsts" for Caroline (and us too!). So here is a lengthy post on the events of the weekend.

Caroline's first dining experience at a rest stop on the Mass Pike - she got to try a chip for the first time - she's showing it to me :) - there were so many people to watch and wave at, and she really liked the chips - she LOVED it! (She also got to try a french fry on the trip home...lucky girl!)

Our first time in a hotel - she LOVED it!

We spent some time playing inside (it rained a lot!) and Caroline learned how to roll a ball back and forth with Daddy - she LOVED it! (can you see the pattern yet??)

This was also Caroline's first wedding. You guessed it - she LOVED it! It was a quick, outside ceremony and she was VERY well behaved. Except for one other "first" - Erik was Shaun and Jackie's photographer so he was running around taking photos instead of sitting with us. He was up towards the front and Caroline spotted him. In the middle of the ceremony she shouted "Da Da!" and pointed at him! It was so cute! She showed off this new found knowledge repeatedly all night long. (I won't get started on how jealous I am!) She passed the time by playing with a spoon and also Uncle Bill's ring and Grandpa's credit card - she's starting early!! She also got to wear this very lovely dress...

It was Caroline's first time meeting Cousin Kyle. He lives in California and he came all the way out for his brother's wedding. Yeah, she LOVED Kyle too. She waved to him during the ceremony. She was rubbing his hair and checking to see if he was paying attention to her....

This last picture has nothing to do with Caroline, but I had to post it because it was just so amazing. This was Shaun and Jackie's wedding cake. Cool isn't it? I thought so #1 because I've NEVER seen a Mario Brother's cake, #2 because I love cool cakes (I'm addicted to Ace of Cakes on TLC), and #3 because Jackie and her mom MADE THIS CAKE! I was just so impressed!

So that wraps up our weekend extravaganza! Caroline did so well on the LONG trip up and back. She had a great time and so did we! We're so lucky to have such a great little lady!! :)

New Swing Set

We picked up a couple of little swing sets from Cousin Josh yesterday. Caroline got a chance to try them out today. We'll be bringing one up to Windsor because we only have room for one here. Can you believe that one of our neighbors had the nerve to complain about it?!

Loving the swing!

Not so sure about the slide

So much fun! Thanks Josh!!

New pics and another video

So I'm a couple days late with the new videos...sorry! But I added a few pictures to make up for it! Unfortunately the drum video didn't work so well, so all you get is one. But its a cute one! Enjoy!

First ride in the tractor with Pep!

Trying ravioli...she LOVED them. Not only are they good for eating, they make a great facial and a fantastic hat!!

The sun comes right into our front windows in the early evening. Yesterday it caught her hair at just the right angle and had me cracking up! What a hairdo - it sticks up on its own like that after her bath! Looks like a halo :)

First time with a juice box - she thought it was the greatest thing! I don't know who had more fun :)

Coming tomorrow...her new drums and first time with a juice box!!
